You don’t have the right.
You don’t have the right to look at someone and decide who they are. You don’t have the right to tell someone what you think of them without getting to know them. You don’t have the right to dictate anyone’s life but yours. You don’t have the right to beat someone up just because they’re different than you. You don’t have the right to tell someone their disgusting or weird or ugly or stupid just because you think so.
You don’t have the right.
You don’t have the right to take someones life. You wouldn’t do it with a gun, or a knife, or a needle, so why would you do it with words? Did you know your words are killing someone inside? Did you know you’re deciding whether or not someone is going to wake up tomorrow? Did you know you’re holding that power?
You don’t have the right.
You’re not in charge. You don’t know what people are going through. It doesn’t matter if you think their problem are miniscule or dumb or nonexistent. To that person they’re very real.
You don’t have the right to take someones life just because you can.
If you’ve read this far, you should know that you do have the right to save that same life. You do have the right to tell that person how beautiful you think they are, but don’t stop there, tell them why. You do have the right to have a real conversation with a person. You do have the right to pull them off the ledge. You do have the right to tell them you love them. You do have the right to be the difference between life and death. You do have the right to be difference between falling asleep and waking up.
Not only do you have the right, but you have the power.
You have the power to do anything. Please make the right choice. Please don’t let your insecurity or your sadness or your anger decide someone else’s fate. Please use your powers for good. Be a superhero. Save their life.
